I think the snow is finally done...KNOCK ON WOOD! With the winter slowly fading behind us and the warm spring air blowing in our faces I can't help but get excited to wear nice shoes again! Oh and not to mention ditching the parka for a cute outerwear piece that doesn't have to have fur trimming the collar.
There are a ton of fabulous restaurants and lounges in our city and its time to venture out and enjoy them! So with that being said I was inspired to suggest a going out ensamble to get your evening fashion ideas flowing.

I was lucky enough this weekend to steal away from Calgary and visit my mom on Salt Spring Island, BC. I grew up as an island girl and would like to believe that I have taken some of that easy going attitude towards dressing with me when I moved away. On Salt Spring Island almost anything goes but if you look closely you will notice that there is an undercurrent of consistency that differentiates a local such as; organic and natural fibres, colour and texture, layering with lots of scarves, and backpacks.

Here are some basic tips to ensure you are on the right track:
- When pairing different prints and patterns together aim to have one to two colours that are the same in each item, this way the outfit will appear more cohesive
- Floral, patterned and coloured denim are in for spring in a major way so update your bottoms by wearing them as cut off shorts, cuffed or capri or long and lean!
- Bold florals and prints are always sophisticated when worn with black if you are feeling less adventurous
- Finally, have fun with it, it's a playful way to update your wardrobe and remain on trend for Spring 2013!

What to Wear to Coachella Music Festival
With Palm Spring's famous music festival, Coachella just around the corner, I thought I would re post one of last years favorites with a few modern trend updates. I had the pleasure of going to Coachella Music Festival last year, the wonderful hippie-meets-high fashion festival of the desert. Which, by the way was f^*king awesome! There was everything from feathered head dresses to neon spandex to high-waisted/camel toe shorts, all of which, in my opinion, need to go! See below for some summer festival appropriate attire that will be comfortable and stylin'.
Note: it was very warm during the days but cooled off a lot at night so dress appropriately.
